Message from the Vice Chancellor
As the Vice Chancellor of KIU, and on behalf of the KIU family, I would like to heartily introduce you to this inaugural issue of the “The KIU Giraffe Times”Newsletter. It is with great pleasure that I write the first editorial. KIU is the leading and fastest growing private University in Uganda and the East African Region. The key drivers of this growth include among others, a visionary Board of Trustees, a functioning University Council, effective and efficient Senate and proficient management teams. Our erudite students and hard working staff add to the strength of the University thereby taking it to greater heights of higher education delivery. The combined vibrancy of all the key stakeholders in the past 15 years has seen KIU supersede the imagination of many. “The KIU Giraffe Times” will offer anup-to-date panoramic view of the trends, perspectives, innovative projects and creative ideas emerging from an ever vibrant and diverse KIU community. We will cover more than 17 themes including Higher Education and Research. We will remain up to speed with the latest in, around, about and beyond KIU, providing a mosaic view of topics
ranging from academia to culture, politics, and entrepreneurship. We will publish the newsletter every two months. The KIU staff, students, and community are welcome to contribute. We owe much to the many direct and indirect contributors to this first issue and congratulations to the editorial team namely, Ms. Nancy Muttu (Editor-In-Chief), Mr. Busingye Alex (Managing Editor) and Kamukama Alex (Deputy Managing Editor). Our news reporters and writers, and all those whose articles have been published will be ably identified by their by-line. We promise to report timely, accurately, and be consistent in delivering the newsletter as “We see far and go further.” We celebrate the launch of the 1stissue as a milestone in the upward growth trend of KIU. Bravo the KIU community, Bravo the graduands of the 15th graduation and Awards Ceremony for you are our key witnesses; Bravo all stakeholders of this great University as we continue to “Explore the Heights.”Dr. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo Vice Chancellor
