Sheebah Karungi’s music career has grown over the years with the likelihood that she could quickly become one of the greatest Ugandan artists of all time.
The singer who took the Artist of the Year Accolade during the Hipipo Music Awards 2017, made it to the list of the greatest women to ever win the Artist of the Year in any National Awards in Uganda. The only other female artists are Juliana Kanyomozi who pioneered the Award in 2008, and Iryn Namubiru who won it in 2011 when the Awards were still referred to as the Pearl of Africa Music Awards (PAM).
Karungi is also the first female artist to scoop both the Hipipo Music Artist of the Year as well as the Female Artist of the Year Award categories three years consecutivly in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The rest of the years have seen the men dominate the top accolade with Bebe Cool as the most awarded Ugandan artiste with 19 Awards, scooping four more Awards this year.
Other Ugandan music awards include the Uganda Entertainment Awards (UEA) and Zzina Awards (ZA).
